“What I love most about Ben Mohler’s Non-Profit Board Member Field Guide & Journal is how practical and approachable it is. In less than 40 pages, it gives board members a clear framework to understand their role and plenty of space to reflect on it. This guide makes it easy to stay focused on what matters most, whether you’re onboarding, starting a new fiscal year, or gathering for a retreat. I’d recommend it to every board—having this pocket-sized resource in the hands of members can truly strengthen their impact.”

I may have found a new textbook for my Introduction to Nonprofit Leadership course at Davis & Elkins College! Ben succinctly covers the traditional board duties of care, loyalty, and obedience, but better yet, he explains fiduciary, strategic, and generative governance in down to earth terms. (Really! He even uses a tractor metaphor.) The personal journal is a great tool for board members to exercise self-governance. I highly recommend Non-Profit Board Member Field Guide & Journal for anyone who serves on a board or works for one.

🧭 Strong nonprofit boards drive strong missions. And last night, ours got a new compass. 🧭 I was lucky enough to snag an early copy of Benjamin Mohler's new 𝘕𝘰𝘯-𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘪𝘵 𝘉𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘔𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘍𝘪𝘦𝘭𝘥 𝘎𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦 & 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 and bring it straight to our board meeting at the Children's Advocacy Center of Butler County. 💎  This book is a gem.  Concise, thoughtful, and actually useful. It’s built for real-world boardrooms (and the people trying to run them better). Our board loved it so much we decided to walk through the entire 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 together in our next meeting. 💪 In just 44 pages, this field guide hits all the right notes: ✅ Practical, not preachy 🧠 Built for reflection 𝘢𝘯𝘥 results 🛠️ Designed by a fellow fundraising pro who actually gets it ❤️  What I appreciate most is that it doesn’t just teach governance. It reminds us 𝘸𝘩𝘺 we show up. 🚀  𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. But so does preparation. And this guide is a fast, thoughtful, and highly useful tool for any board looking to amplify their impact without increasing complexity. 🎯 If you’re a board member, nonprofit leader, or work with a board that wants to be more strategic, reflective, and responsive… grab this. It’s the field guide we didn’t know we needed. 🙌  Ben, thank you for creating a resource that honors our time, sharpens our leadership, and reinforces the 𝘸𝘩𝘺 behind the work. This is more than a book. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 and I’m honored to be one of the first to read it. 🙌 #NonprofitLeadership #BoardService #MissionDriven #TimeTalentTreasure #CACButlerCounty #FundraisingNerdsUnite
